We are home and what a great feeling! Joshua is just thrilled to see all his toys and experience everything he has missed for 3 months. The doctor said we’d have a hard time keeping up to him now, wow was he ever right! He looks great and feels really good! It is a miracle.

January 16th Josh received a heart.

At five months, Josh became ill with what was later diagnosed as Kawasaki Disease. When caught and treated within the first 10 days of onset, Kawasaki does not usually cause any lasting damage, and kids fully recover. Unfortunately in Josh’s case, the disease was not diagnosed quickly enough and his heart was permanently damaged. Since then, four-year-old Josh has had three heart attacks.

This last time, Josh had to be resuscitated with a defibrillator and CPR.

He was airlifted to Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.

Josh’s only hope for a full life is a full heart transplant. Josh had an operation to equip him with a "Berlin Heart". This will keep him alive for up to 18 months.

His parents, Mike and Keely, who live in the Cowichan Valley, are staying at a hotel in Edmonton. The bills are piling up and the income has gone way down. Friends of Josh are asking for donations to help with living expenses while they wait for a heart for Josh.
